Firefox 1.5 Released and Reviewed, Get a Built in FTP Program!
So by now you must have seen or heard about Firefox, the web browser that I use because of its enhanced stability, security, and extra features that it offers over Internet explorer. Well up to this point I have been using the stable 1.06 version but now I’m upgrading to the 1.5 version that was just released on http://www.mozilla.org/projects/firefox/
The installation went with out too much trouble, I did get an error message letting me know that all of my extensions and add-ons that I had installed before the upgrade were no longer compatible with the new version of firefox. Ok so lets go back to the page where I got my handy built in ftp program. Search google.com for "Firefox FTP" or visit http://fireftp.mozdev.org/
You must install the add-on and then a prompt will ask you if you will allow the software installation, press install now and you will have your very own ftp program built right into a tab in firefox. OK now its installed lets try it and see how our handy dandy ftp program works in the new version of firefox. And, OH I got dissed. Sorry this program is only compatible with the older version. Well, that’s one huge negative in my mind as I need to have my ftp program readily available, one might argue that why not just have a separate ftp program since its an add-on anyway. I say that for just a quick jump into an ftp and then out again, it is nice to do it from the program your currently in. But Wait! Just for fun I tried the old ftp://ftp.website.com from the browser, you know the one that never worked in the 1.0 version, and what do you know it works and faster then IE. WOW!!
If there is only one reason to upgrade to the new Firefox 1.5 its for the built in FTP usage. I highly recommend it to everyone.
