Mckenzie Management Sucks

I wanted to share a little story of an unethical company who's business practices leave much to be desired. This company's name is McKenzie Management located in La Jolla, California. Their website is http://www.mckenziemgmt.com

The reason for this article is to warn any future techs who may come in contact with this company not to do business with them. This company has a history of using a tech, running up a bill and not paying them. I was a little sketch about working for them because I was taking the account over from another computer tech. I spoke with the tech and asked him the question, is this a good client to have? After a long pause, he gave me a somewhat grudging and disconcerting, "uhh ya there ok..." Not listening to my better sense, I went ahead and proceed to give my professional recommendations to them.

1) They had an old dell computer that they were using as a server. Upon further inspection this "server" had only a single hard drive and was running windows XP home edition. I recommended they get a new server with a raid system and then set up some type of backup system to protect the data.

2) They had no network in place and were storing everything on their local drives as well. I recommended setting up a domain and then mapping network drive back to the newly raided server which has a backup system to protect data.

I then went out bought a server, installed it, and did the majority of the work to get the network changed over. Quite a lot of work it was too.

Expecting to now be paid for my work, I promptly sent off the invoice. No call back... Weeks go by and I make a call to see how its going. He tells me that the server is down and the whole world is over...

After all this, the server died ( a hardware problem not really my fault) but anyway I took the server away and replaced it with a new one. Re did all the work. Now expecting to get paid for my work. A few more weeks go by. Another call into the company to see what the problem is now. The server was down again according to him. I then asked him, why didn't you call me to let me know? He gave me some half true answer about how they got tired of working with me and just took the server out, threw it away and replaced it and had to call some other (now the 4th computer tech I'm aware of ) to redo the entire thing.

I was getting quite upset that my brand new server equipment apparently failed a second time, and frustrated at this point because I could have at least returned the hardware and made my money back on the hardware. I said, well I can come pick up the hardware and give you a full refund, I'm sorry that it didn't work out. I added that he could have easily picked up the phone and it would have been covered under warranty for free, so it was actually a waste of money to pay another tech to redo the work. I had in-fact never refused to fix the problem and he never called me to request any service or even tell the that it was not working. I think he was lying just to get out of paying although I never got the chance to examine the server since he "threw it away". He responded he would be having his lawyer contact me and hung up.

Of course I never heard anything. It has now been 6 months with no call from the lawyer. I have sent a copy of the invoice one a month since that time, I know he is getting it. He is basically not going to pay me. I am calling this guy out, a scammer a cheat what ever you want. Of course this is my personal opinion so sue me Mr Mckenzie management company you know who i am. But I now call you and your company dishonest and warn others not to do business with them.

Apparently this company is a bunch of scammers who just use people and then don't pay them. Who steal their equipment then don't give it back and claim they threw it away.

What ever you do, don't do business with McKenzie Management unless you want to get ripped off like I did.
