So your experiencing pop-ups, browser crashes, pages getting redirected, slowness, or any of the above, then you got a problem. Most likely, you were surfing on one of those sites you know you shouldn't be on, Be honest! Well I suppose it’s possible that you got that spyware from installing P2P programs such as limewire, kazaa, or half the free programs available on download.com. Actually now that I think about it, everyone is gunning for you trying to hijack your browser, trying to turn your computer into a little add spitting zombie that shoves the internet down your throat in ways that you don't want. Now its possible that your screwed at this point and should just reformat and start over, can I ask how you let it get this far?? But before we do this, lets cross our fingers and try this spyware removal software out there.

Actually, I shouldn't be so harsh, there are several really good programs out there that I have personally used and seen work very well. I would like to say here that in my opinion, malware infections peaked about 6 months ago and now are starting to decline. Microsoft finally has done something about all the security holes in their software and now the spyware problem doesn't seem as bad as it did a while ago. But you don't care about this, you already have a problem and need a solution! Right?

There are two programs I use most of the time for spyware removal, they are spybot search & destroy and adaware

Spybot S&D is the best and first program I started using after trying out many a program. It features registry protection from unwanted changes, updated definitions files can be downloaded with the press of a button. And I’m also impressed with the programmers site and intentions. After reading what he has to say, it is clear that he is here to help. I have used many programs that will detect the spyware but require you to purchase it before it will clean your computer. Not the case with Spybot S & D, it is fully functional and the author requests donations to keep this program going. I like his style.

Second program I will use is Ad-Aware. I usually bust this program out when Spybot fails to catch the offending software. Spybot is good but doesn't always catch 100 percent of the spyware. Ad-Aware is a more commercial program with a paid version that runs in the system tray and runs on a schedule. This seems to have different definitions then the Spybot program. I have found that they seem to complement each other well. There are others that are good, if you have one please post a comment and let everyone know.

What i recommend

I have a problem with why people get a receive so many of these problems. I am very careful with what i download, and subscribe to, i do not run any 3rd party spyware removal programs especcially spybot or adaware as when i have tried these out they just decrease pc performance and secretly actaully attract more spyware rather then remove it. If i ever get infected, i find it much easier to manually, remove the crap, fix the registry and back to normal.. no problems. The only tool i recommend which i find is great, is google search toolbar. It blocks all popup windows and allows what i want.

Just be careful when surfing, its easy.
