What is SPR/Rootkit.XCP.B.5? When i ran AntiVir virus software it brought up SPR/Rootkit.XCP.B.5 and deleted it. I searched the net to find out more but i couldn't find anything. Since then I downloaded UnHackMe software to search for hidden trojans but it hasn't found anything since.
Does anyone know?

Well, before i reinstalled windows the virus software found the rootkit and removed it. From what i 've researched the program shouldn't have even found it. Anyway, i had already found the rootkit revealer webpage, downloaded the program and then ran it. It found discrepancies, around 13 of them, but i did not know how to remove or validate if they were rootkits or not. I am a novice totally, and this is why i've come to this website. Another interesting issue is when i save the text file from the rootkit revealer to my desktop it seems to disappear somehow.
Anyway, let me answer some of the questions posted in admin's response.
I haven't played any Sony CDs in the last six months or more unless i did it accidentally and wasn't paying attention.
I have a good firewall and run off a server that is pretty well secured.
I have all the security updates installed.
And no one uses my laptop as a workstation. I do however work off a server at work but have since unshared every thing and disallowed remote service options.
I now run UnHackMe that checks for hidden trojans every minute and it has not revealed anything.

What worries me is that the last time i ran RootKit revealer it had showed API mismatches in the volume control area, and i know that malicious files like the volume files for some reason.
