configuring htaccess restrictions on debian apache2 server
Submitted by 400medley on Thu, 2008-06-26 04:41. Communications | Debian Support | SupportThis is a quick guide on how to set up htaccess restrictions on a directory located on a server running apache2 with a debian OS.
First, you will need to update the httpd.conf file, which should be located in the apache2 directory, as follows:
<Directory (directory to be protected)>
Options Indexes Includes FollowSymLinks Multivews
AllowOverride AuthConfig
Order allow,deny
Allow from all
</Directory>
Make sure to take out the "" they are only included so this post displays properly.
Once this update is saved, restart the apache2 server with the following command, or something like it depending on your setup, as follows:

Windows Network GPS Conflicts
Submitted by ladouglas on Fri, 2007-02-02 21:12. Communications | Support | Windows 2003 Server Support | Windows Network Admin (Beginner)Are Geotech unit purchased a few Magellan 400 Explorist 400 North American units that use a conversion manager to exchange data between the unit and the computer. The software will locate the units with an administrator logged on. If the user (power user) is logged on the software cannot located the GPS unit. Uses standard 2.0 usb port. The computer, with out the software running locates the unit as a mass storage device. So all conection are good. Any suggestion. We (my coworker with much more experience and I) have contacted Magellan (India) several times. We are I think black listed with them.

Xcopy error "insufficient memory" - found a work around with XXCOPY
Submitted by Dude on Fri, 2006-05-12 00:28. Windows Network Admin (Advanced) | Office / Business | Support | Windows 2003 Server SupportSo I have a few users setup with daily backups using a bat file as referenced in
http://www.ctunion.com/node/35
So I noticed not all the user’s data was being copied, only half the data was being copied. So I ran the command from the bat file in a dos prompt:
xcopy "c:\Documents and Settings\user\My Documents" "d:\backup" /e /c /y /d
and it is setup to copy only files that have been modified with /d switch
I noticed after it copied some files that have changed it gave an "insufficient memory" error
I ran the same command again and it copied no files and returned the "insufficient memory" error again.
Domain authentication with Samba
Submitted by mbower on Wed, 2005-12-28 20:28. Windows Network Admin (Advanced) | Communications | Debian Support | SupportI am attempting to set up a Debian server and use domain account as logins to the machine. I have been able to get things talking, such as Kerberos, and I have added the machine to the domain just fine. The PDC is running Server 2003. Here is what I have done and verified so far:
1. Configured smb.conf with winbind support
2. configured krb5.conf
3. tested and verified then added to domain with net ads join
4. verified that winbind is working using wginfo -u,wginfo -g
5. authenticated user through wginfo -a
Here are my samba config and the outputs when I verify:
What is SPR/Rootkit.XCP.B.5?
Submitted by JohnnieWalkerBlue on Sat, 2005-11-19 00:53. Microsoft Exchange 2003 Server | Office / Business | Support | Windows Network Admin (Beginner)What is SPR/Rootkit.XCP.B.5? When i ran AntiVir virus software it brought up SPR/Rootkit.XCP.B.5 and deleted it. I searched the net to find out more but i couldn't find anything. Since then I downloaded UnHackMe software to search for hidden trojans but it hasn't found anything since.
Does anyone know?
