Are Geotech unit purchased a few Magellan 400 Explorist 400 North American units that use a conversion manager to exchange data between the unit and the computer. The software will locate the units with an administrator logged on. If the user (power user) is logged on the software cannot located the GPS unit. Uses standard 2.0 usb port. The computer, with out the software running locates the unit as a mass storage device. So all conection are good. Any suggestion. We (my coworker with much more experience and I) have contacted Magellan (India) several times. We are I think black listed with them.

Move Operations Master Role with NTDSUTIL

What would happen if we didn't either use dcpromo to demote the first domain controller before removing it from the domain or move each Operations Master role seperately before removing the computer?

We could use command line tool to assign the Operations Master roles to a new DC.

1. Log on to a member server or domain controller with an administrator account.
2. Click “Start”, click “run”, and enter “cmd“
3. Enter “ntdsutil“
4. Enter “roles“
5. Enter “connections“
6. Enter “connect to server [ServerName]“
7. Enter “quit“ to return to the roles level

How to Move Directory Services Database

Moving a Database or Log File
1. Restart the domain controller.
2. Press F8 at the Startup menu, and then click Directory Services Restore Mode.
3. Select the appropriate installation if more than one exists, and then log on as an administrator at the logon prompt.
4. Start a command prompt, and then type ntdsutil.exe.NOTE: To get a list of commands that you can use at the Ntdsutil prompt, type ?.

5. At a Ntdsutil prompt, type files.
6. At the File Maintenance prompt, use one or both of the following procedures:
• To move a database, type move db to %s, where %s is the drive and folder where you want the database moved.

Xcopy error "insufficient memory" - found a work around with XXCOPY

So I have a few users setup with daily backups using a bat file as referenced in
http://www.ctunion.com/node/35

So I noticed not all the user’s data was being copied, only half the data was being copied. So I ran the command from the bat file in a dos prompt:

xcopy "c:\Documents and Settings\user\My Documents" "d:\backup" /e /c /y /d

and it is setup to copy only files that have been modified with /d switch
I noticed after it copied some files that have changed it gave an "insufficient memory" error

I ran the same command again and it copied no files and returned the "insufficient memory" error again.
